Because of God's Love - A Beacon in the Night

Tuesday April 5, 2011

Statistics tell us that the #1 way people find a church home is by words of mouth.  This is true for Grace Avenue but the second most common way we are found is by people driving by our facility.  In today’s New Building DYK we will examine our drive by appeal.  Thanks, BER

Scripture of Day
                                                                                                                                                       Matthew 5: 14-16
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

We are asking everyone to complete the phrase Because of God’s Love…
Responses from our congregation
I am saved; I have a confidant, counselor and amazing friend.
I am a member of a wonderful church and a Sunday school class.
I have forgiveness and understanding in my heart.
I am blessed with a beautiful family who love me always.
I am always aware of his presence in my life.
And today’s special BGL…:

Because of God’s Love…

I have power over my addictions and I can daily faithfully strive to be the spouse and parent God created me to be!  PTL!

What will you be today Because of God’s Love…
New Building DYK
1.       The Steeple on the new building (depicted above) will rise almost 100 feet in the air.
2.      The Steeple will feature a stained glass cross on four sides facing north, south east and west.
3.      The stained glass in the Steeple will match the stained glass in our current buildings.  The stained glass is designed and manufactured by a company in San Antonio, TX called the Cavallini Company.
4.      The cross on top of the building will be prominent during the day and the stained glass crosses will be illuminated from inside the Steeple at night.  It will be well seen on Main street but will also be visible from as far away as the Tollway.

BOTTOM LINE:  Grace Avenue’s new steeple will rise to the glory of God by day and will be a beacon of God’s hope by night.  Where else in this area will we be able to behold such a sight?

Prayer of the Day
Glorious God, may your perpetual light shine in us so that our church may be a light house to all who are in need.  We give thanks for the opportunity to let our light shine for you. AMEN.
