How do we decide what to build and when to build?  Has that plan been developed with a particular strategy in mind?  In today’s New Building DYK we look at some of the ways we have been planning strategically.  Thanks, BER

New Building DYK

1.      A Master Plan for our campus was developed in 2002-2003.  It remains in place today and is depicted in the rendering above that also hangs in the Tower entrance to the Church Office & Learning Center.

2.      The plan was developed by members of our church and HH Architects.  HH Architects remains one of our strategic partners today.

3.      In 2008-2009 A Strategic Plan for Grace Avenue was created by a special task force of members in our church.  The plan is called Vision 2020 and considers a vision for ministry for the next 10 years.  You can obtain a copy of the plan by emailing Meghan@graceavenue.org.

4.      The Vision 2020 plan examined growth projections for our church at low, moderate and high levels.  In each scenario the plan projects that Grace Avenue will be out of room for growth in worship, classrooms and parking by 2012.

5.      Based on the report of the Vision 2020 plan, a building feasibility team was formed and worked throughout 2010 with HH Architects to determine the viability of this current project.

BOTTOM LINE:  Grace Avenue has been strategic in planning for this project.  The vast majority of us were not here prior to 2003 when faithful members of Grace Avenue stepped out in faith to make our current facilities possible.  The strategic question now is; Will we do the same for others who will need this ministry in the future?

Gracious God, you are the Master Planner of all.  Help us to trust in your vision for us.  Remove our doubts and anxiety so that we can be bold in our commitment to your work.  AMEN.
